Medical nutrition therapy is covered by a variety of insurance plans. In addition, some insurance companies provide wellness benefits that include nutrition consultations. Check with your insurance plan for specific coverage details. Medical nutrition therapy includes:
a review of what you eat and your eating habits,
a thorough review of your nutritional health,
a review of the medical diagnosis and pertinent lab values provided by your physician, and
preparation of a personalized nutrition treatment plan.
The first visit with your WellFit dietitian will take approximately one hour. After the first session, follow-up appointments will be scheduled to check progress and reassess goals and treatment as necessary. Health professionals agree that nutrition services are one of the first treatments that individuals should receive to improve many chronic conditions. A referral from your doctor is required for medical nutrition therapy. Established member patients of WellFit Medicine and Nutrition will be referred to your WellFit dietitian from within the organization.
